A domain controller is a server that controls users and computers on a network. The main task of a DC is to authenticate users logging onto the network.

A workgroup is a peer to peer where authentication is done on each computer.

  • Computers have a set of user accounts
  • A minimum amount of computers
  • Printers can be shared whithin workgroup
  • Shared resources
  • Users need to have an account on every computer they access
